For the past 4 winters, my family and I have been honored to provide a little winter and some smiles to the people and the visitors of the Central Coast. After much thoughtful deliberation, and a few tears, we've made the difficult decision not to return for the 2015-2016 season.
This was a decision not made lightly, and made with all of your memories and traditions in mind. I am proud to say that we saw over 72,000 of you, hosted 4 wedding proposals, over 100birthday parties, corporate holiday parties, and countless first dates. Winter WonderSLO was never about the profits, and our decision was not based on that fact. We are thankful to Madonna Inn for being so open to the idea in the beginning, and for always taking such great care of us. Our sponsors Jiffy Lube,Electricraft Inc, Sunset Honda, Kramer Events, and Whiz Kids Toys! were champions of Winter WonderSLO and helped make it possible each year. However, producing an event of such magnitude requires partnerships like the ones above, as well as pricing that in the end we felt would be too cost prohibitive for many families- especially with the coming wage hikes of $15/hour. We did not take large profits because we kept the ticket pricing far below what is being charged for the same event in other cities. We are a small family business, and additionally, the liability became too much for us to bear. We are currently fighting a lawsuit of an attendee who fell, and while our Insurance is covering our legal fees- we recognize that we may not always be so blessed, and in our current litigious state- we may face bankruptcy one day.
We love the Central Coast and its people. Thank you for being a part of our holiday season, and for allowing us to be a part of yours.
